Security system upgrade for an educational institution

During his Beijing employment, owned design, estimating, tenders and implementation for an anonymous institution. The company won a contract worth more than RMB 20 million, covering over 1,500 cameras; construction finished within 45 days, followed by overall commissioning and client acceptance.

Context

An educational institution upgraded its campus security systems. This was a single project undertaken during employment with 信社科技（北京）有限公司. Beijing was the employment location; the client and specific project location remain anonymous.

Experience and case scope

Started with equipment installation, cabling and conduit work, then moved into solutions, estimating and tenders. Later served primarily as Commercial Director, while also handling project management, technical leadership and documentation on awarded projects.

Objectives

  • Upgrade and replace over 1,500 cameras across the institution, followed by overall commissioning and client acceptance.

My role

Responsible for design, quotations, commercial proposals, tender documentation and bidding. After award, organised in-house and outsourced construction crews and took responsibility for overall commissioning and delivery.

Key challenges

  • Organising campus-wide equipment replacement and multiple crews, then connecting the construction phase with overall systems commissioning and acceptance.

Systems and work scope

  • Owned design, quotations, commercial proposals, tender documentation and bidding.
  • After award, led in-house and outsourced crews and handled construction coordination, technical commissioning, project management and documentation.

Approach

  • Connected front-end design and commercial tender work with site execution through continuing project and technical responsibility.
  • Organised camera replacement, then personally carried out overall commissioning after construction was complete.

Delivery scope

  • The company won a contract worth more than RMB 20 million for this institution's upgrade.
  • Upgraded and replaced over 1,500 cameras; the construction phase was completed within 45 days.

Confirmed results

  • After construction, personally completed overall commissioning; the project successfully passed client acceptance.
