Ongoing ICT operations and on-site service
Enterprise ICT operations and on-site technical service in Singapore
As an IT Engineer, supports enterprise networks, Windows Server, Microsoft 365 after migration and on-site service, combining layered troubleshooting, collaboration and validation around practical user needs.
Context
Livecom provides information systems operations and on-site technical service for enterprise clients in Singapore. The themes below cover separate service events, rather than combining work from different months or clients into one construction project. The serviced clients are not his employers.
Experience and case scope
Applies earlier systems construction, project delivery and client communication experience to operations, troubleshooting, configuration and cross-team coordination. On-site placement describes the service arrangement; the formal role is IT Engineer.
Objectives
- Maintain, configure, validate and troubleshoot enterprise networks, information systems and endpoints around practical usage needs.
- Coordinate progress, planned maintenance and results between clients, operations teams, carriers and vendors.
My role
Handles site checks, configuration/testing, user support, follow-up and technical records. Firewall rollout, cross-region line testing, M365 post-migration support and meeting-room validation are collaborative responsibilities.
Key challenges
- Problems can involve file restrictions, client components, backend policies or networks; each layer needs checking and result validation.
- Maintain usable workarounds during backend work while coordinating progress with operations and external teams.
Systems and work scope
- Networks: VLAN/IP planning, switch ports, wireless AP validation, wireless-service changes and DHCP optimisation; supported internet-firewall rollout, functional tests and access-policy review. Checked leased-line and SD-WAN primary/backup links and failover, and supported cross-region testing and planned maintenance.
- Windows Server and security: domain-controller checks, Windows patches, accounts, Group Policy, software deployment and scheduled-shutdown policy validation; EDR alert review/handling, NDR log collation, email login checks and network-device management-account upkeep.
- M365 after migration: accounts, MFA, desktop/mobile reconfiguration, mail synchronisation and shared files. Supported network, address binding, domain login, software and audiovisual tests for 3 new meeting rooms, plus remote access and endpoint delivery.
Approach
- Shared-folder PDF preview: distinguished file security restrictions from preview-component issues, compared local and shared paths and validated components; restored preview and documented an SOP.
- Shared-file access: worked with operations through multiple configuration and validation rounds to restore use.
- Classic Outlook synchronisation: helped users retain mail access through an alternative client while backend policy work continued. This was a working interim path, not a claim that the original client's root cause was permanently resolved.
- Organised network-device information, troubleshooting records and technical SOPs, and maintained deployment, reset, return-check and handover records for endpoints.
Delivery scope
- Completed relevant configuration, tests, records and user support, and communicated progress and validated results to clients and technical teams.
Confirmed results
- Restored use in the PDF-preview and shared-file-access events described above, with a documented preview SOP.
- Provided an alternative working mail client while Outlook backend policy work continued.
